Leinster Junior Success at Bunratty
The 2015 Bunratty Chess Festival, established a new Irish record, as 350 players competed in four sections. Master, Challangers, Majors and Minors.
The impressive stature of the tournament can be judged by the line up in the Masters section which included Grandmasters Nigel Short, Nick Pert, Peter Wells Alex Baburin, Bogdan Lalic and the winner World No7 GM Wesley So.
Players from all over Ireland together with players from the United States and the UK, participated over three days. Leinster Junior Chess are particularly proud of the high attendance and success of the Leinster Juniors in all sections.
In the Masters, Conor O’Donnel, Gonzaga, won the highest placed non title Irish player.
Scott Mulligan, Rathmines, was joint winner in the Challangers
Ross Beatty, St. Benildus, was outright winner in the Major
Diarmuid Reidy won the Minor.
